A NEW SEASON

MOPS of Newnan - New Season

I’m sitting on my patio with shade from the trees and umbrella watching my almost five year old play in the lake. I don’t know where the time has gone or how I’ve come to this day where it’s time to tell you about our new year.

Reflecting on my years at MOPS of Newnan, I can’t help but share how blessed I have been. Honestly when I discovered MOPS, I was a mom who had lost her identity. I struggled with a sense of fashion, leaving the house, socializing my boy and especially making new friends. I was a mess!

I wouldn’t exactly call myself fashionable today, but I do feel that I have found myself again. The confidence to accept a leadership role here has helped redevelop the strong woman I once was before motherhood. In the past year, I have helped coordinate MOPS of Newnan’s Summer Bible Study and the 2018-19 MOPS season. I have survived the first year of my son’s education – life changes BIG when they start school. And I’ve managed my time wisely enough to fit in freelance web development allowing me to contribute to my family’s finances again.

I’m not sharing these things in search of recognition, but to help you find yourself in my story.  I want you accept where you are today, make choices to advance your tomorrow and find confidence in the best future you can imagine!

Now, that we are entering the last year Kala Arrington and I will lead MOPS of Newnan as Coordinators, we want to introduce you to the newest leadership team that will make it all happen this coming year. Are you ready?

Pampering Moms Not Babies

The long-awaited, infamous spa day has almost arrived! Tomorrow, we will gather in our normal meeting spot for the first meeting of 2019 for a lot of pampering.

Don’t want to put on makeup? No worries. Come without and leave pampered with a new look by MaryKay.

Need to stretch, relax and mediate on what’s to come in 2019? Wear your yoga gear and bring your yoga mat because Sea Glass Therapy is providing us with two 30-minute yoga sessions to choose from.

Other pampering stations will be offered by some of our own moms, and I’m sure you’ll leave with lots of goodies to be enjoyed at home. Oh! Be sure to take your punchcard to each station to earn your entry for the door prizes which will be given away at the end of our morning together.

Did I mention chair massages are available? Umm, you don’t want to miss this option because we have four great massage therapist scheduled to help pamper you tomorrow. This does require advance sign-up; so, if you haven’t snagged a time-slot, go the our Members Only Facebook Page to schedule yours now!

A list of vendors pampering you instead of your babies this week are:

  • Julie Nielsen

Spirit Night at Newk’s Eatery

blog_newksspiritnight

Did you know MOPS of Newnan is a not-for-profit organization who cares for mamas throughout Newnan? Momming is as hard as it is rewarding; so here, we gather moms with children (age 0-kindergarten) to share in hardships and triumphs.

We are proud to bring family resources to our moms, as well as a few child-free hours each month at meetings where we serve coffee and breakfast. There are many ways to support MOPS of Newnan, including providing coffee or breakfast, running an ad here on our website or doing everyday activities like taking your family out for dinner to one of our spirit nights throughout the year!

Tonight from 5-8pm, you can feed your family and support our organization by meeting us at Newk’s Eatery for dinner. A portion of every purchase will come back to us, allowing us to reach one more mom who needs our support! Shout out you’re support by clicking our event or checking in to Newk’s Eatery tonight.

Parenting

I am thrilled about what we have planned today. I mean, I think two meetings is plenty of time to get to know each other and it’s time to get deep. Are you in?

We have two guest speakers to talk to us about Parenting. Lauren Collins RN, BSN is from Moms On Call, and, mamas, when she told me what was on her heart, I got goose bumps. I cannot wait to hear what she has for us today. I’m pretty sure God was speaking to her and she was listening.

Next up is Susan Goodroe, M.Ed. with the Ferst Foundation, a childhood literacy program in Georgia, now known as Ferst Readers. And if you aren’t familiar with Ferst Readers, it’s a program that sends every child up to the age of 5 a free book each month. Wow! Where do I sign up? Well, Susan is going to tell us.

So, mamas, will I see you this morning? I sure hope you’ll be there with hearts open.

Moms’ Night Out with Mentors

LadiesNightOut_101118

Mamas, it has been since July that we hosted a Moms’ Night Out, so we are so happy to share that First Baptist Church of Newnan has planned one for us!

Join us on October 11th from 7-9 pm for Coffee and Cookies at The Warehouse | First Baptist Church Newnan. Our Moms’ Nights Out are best when First Baptist Church of Newnan hosts, so you don’t want to miss! Not only will it be a time for us to mingle with each other, but a chance to meet mentors – moms who have gone before us – who want to serve us in this season.

No matter if you are in the middle of a storm or stepping out into sunshine, we want you to join us. Your story matters to us and the mom next to you; we need you to open up and share your story and your heart, just as it feels today!

We’ve been asked to register for this event (by October 4th), so our gracious hosts can properly prepare. So click here to register now!!

*Please note, childcare is not provided for this event.
